The German Association of Amusement Machinery & Accessory Manu- facturers (German short form: VDV) was founded in 1987 by an over- whelming majority of all expert manufacturers from throughout Germany. Its objectives are such as to demonstrate and to officially underline the most advanced state of technology and the importance of the German manufacturers of amusement rides, associated special trailor systems, decorations, animations, lighting and sound equipment, etc. by appearing and acting united, nationally as well as internationally.

For decades, the high quality standard of German amusement fair & park equipment has been warranted by Germany’s stringent design, produc- tion and operation standards and regulations, as these are unparalleled throughout the world. Moreover, German manufacturers’ and operators’ compliance with these standards and codes is mandatory and is per- manently inspected and supervised by the quasi-governmental authori- tative technical supervision institutes (TÜV) of Germany. As a result, the high quality and safety standard of German amusement machinery & equipment has finally led to a trend that is making many other countries consider to either adopt the German standards and regulations or to refer to them for elaborating and establishing their national counter- parts.

The diversity of the VDV’s members and their product offers demon- strates and represents the complete range of products that are required by Germany’s national and, more important, by the international amuse- ment & leisure service industry. The very high creativity and efficiency of the German manufacturers have been evidenced by the fact that there is practically no country in this world whose national amusement industry is not operating at least some German-made major rides. In this whole context it is consequently not surprising that the VDV’s members are proud of having the collective capacity to design, manufacture, supply and install the entirety of all rides & attractions, associated systems, equipment and even permanent architectural fabric structures, all neces- sary to create and to complete any kind of amusement & leisure park project.

Since 2000 the VDV is also an active member of the European Association Amusement Supplier Industry (EAASI).
